TRYOUT INFORMATION

Tryouts and clinic for the Junior Greyhound Volleyball Program will be held on May 24-26
from 4:30-6:30pm at POPE HIGH SCHOOL in the main gym.

May 24 & 25 will be a clinic to allow players to get ready for the tryout
as well as meet our coaching staff. The cost of the clinic is $30.

May 26 will be our tryout date.
If a player is unable to attend the tryout they must come to at least one of the clinic dates
so they can be evaluated by the coaching staff.

General Information on the Junior Greyhounds:

The Junior Greyhound Volleyball program is in our 9th year. The program was started with the intention to expose middle school girls to sound basic fundamental instruction and a love for the game. The program was designed with both beginners and experienced players in mind. There is only one restriction- this team is limited to players who will be attending Pope High School in the future.
The following is a description of teams:

#1 Team - a competitive team (approximately 12 players), usually experienced players, requires girls to make a commitment to the team. The season begins the first week of school and ends the first or second weekend in October. Practices/matches are two/three days a week. Expect almost every weekend (all day Saturday) to be in the gym. All team members are expected at every practice and match. Equal playing time is not guaranteed. Court time is based on positions. The cost is around $275.

#2 Team- "Learning in progress" best describes this team. The season begins the first week of school and ends the first or second week in October. Practices are two days a week and matches are limited to some weekends and two home matches at Pope during the week. We encourage girls to make all practices/matches but understand conflicts and/or other sports (big difference between 1st and 2nd teams). Experience is not a requirement for this team. We are looking for approximately 12 girls with good attitudes, hustle and ability to follow directions. All players will have equal playing time. The cost is around $200.

Match jerseys will be provided to players on both teams, however, there may be a small additional cost for extra equipment (spandex, socks, and knee pads).
